2 Months

What another incredible month it has been with our sweet boy! We can't believe he is already 2 months old. He is getting so big and it is crazy how fast all of this is going.

Owen started off his second month of life with a very special visitor! His Aunt Haylie (Tim's sister) came into town for a few days to meet Owen. It was so fun having her here and getting to see her love on her nephew.

I have become way more comfortable leaving our house this past month which was great for both me and Owen I'm sure! We will run errands together (although I'm a little on edge the whole time), have lunch dates and other little outings. It is a little more complicated to say the least but I love having him with me! One very fun outing that we had was a weekend getaway. My family has a lake house in Horseshoe Bay that I've been going to since I was just a little older than Owen. Tim and I have always loved spending the weekend there and we were so excited to take Owen. I wish we had taken a picture of our car. I couldn't believe how many things we had to bring. Our car was PACKED!! It usually takes us about 3 1/2 hours to get there and it took a little over 5! We had to stop twice so he could nurse which was an experience in itself. At one point when he was screaming in the backseat and we couldn't find a place to pull over I told Tim I wanted to go back home! A little dramatic I know! Once we got there though it was a blast and such a special weekend with the Watson family of 3.

FUNNY STORY: A couple weeks ago I'm sure everyone heard about the tornados in the DFW area. Well my mom and I had chosen that particular day for a fun outing about 40 minutes away from Fort Worth to a little shopping area. We had just finished eating lunch and I was nursing Owen in the car when we started hearing the tornado sirens. We thought it might be a good idea to take cover. We found a Barnes and Noble and camped out in there. I finished feeding Owen in the back corner of Barnes and Noble - don't worry I only scared off one poor man. Anyways, about 10 minutes after we got in Barnes and Noble they made an announcement that the tornado was headed our direction and we had to take cover in this EXTREMELY small space in the back. We head that way and 20 of us were scrunched in this little area praying the tornado wouldn't get us. Well, at one point it got very quiet and Owen thought it would be a good idea to release some gas. Not just any gas... loud, wet, dirty diaper gas. Needless to say everyone in that small space was cracking up! Definitely lightened the mood.

Another fun thing this past month is a little Thursday morning tradition (which will have to change when I go back to work). We have a cute little french bakery about a 2 minute walk from where we live. We load up Owen in our BOB stroller (which is AMAZING by the way) and have a nice breakfast on the porch of the bakery and then go on a walk. It has been such a sweet time for Tim and me...and Owen who sleeps the whole time.

Owen's 2 month appointment went great. He handled the vaccinations great, it was just so sad hearing him cry so hard. He also ended up having a high temperature (101.7) that evening which of course scared me to death, but he is doing much better now.

Two Month Check Up:
Weight: 12 lbs, 11 ounces - 75th percentile
Length: 23 3/4 inches - 75th percentile
Head Circumference - 75th percentile

Loves: ceiling fans, being bounced (especially on the exercise ball), looking at books, his activity gym, eating, bath time, naps in his car seat, watching mom and dad, snuggling,

Hates: naps and wet diapers. We added this little pillow to tummy time which seems to help him not hate it quite as much!

Owen is wearing size 0-3 and is barely fitting in size 1 diapers. He continues to sleep pretty good at night sleeping anywhere from 3 hours to 7 hours (that only happened once). Tim and I are still trying to figure out this whole sleeping thing. I'm sure we are about to have to start letting him cry it out although I don't think I will last very long. Owen eats (still just breast milk) every 3-4 hours.

He has started smiling (a ton) and is cooing and talking. I have heard the /k/ and /g/ sound a lot when he is cooing (makes his speech pathologist mama proud). He is able to hold his head up (a little wobbly still) when we hold him up over our shoulder. He is able to track objects with his eyes. His hands are ALWAYS in his mouth. He is constantly trying to find his thumb but doesn't quite have that fine motor coordination to do it! I'm sure once he does we will have a very adamant thumb sucker! Owen is such a happy baby and Tim and I are so very blessed to have this gift from the Lord!

Month 3 should be pretty exciting! On Monday we are headed to Florida for my brother's wedding! I'm praying for a smooth plane ride :)
