3 Months

Another month gone! It was such a great month with our little guy. My brother's wedding week was so much fun. Owen did great on the airplane...pretty sure I was way more stressed than he was! Tim wasn't able to come until Thursday so my mom, grandmother, Owen and I left Monday morning. I think the most stressful part was getting through security with all our stuff! It is amazing how much such a little guy needs (or at least how much I think he needs). Poor Tim had to watch from behind the ropes as we not so smoothly made it through. We found out later Tim could have gotten a pass to come and help. There was a really nice man that helped me though...and 15-20 minutes later we were through. I had lots of good tips for the plane ride and was able to make sure he was sucking on something when taking off and landing. That was really the only part that stressed me out. Owen pretty much slept the whole plane ride after that.

The week was full of activities to get ready for the rehearsal dinner and wedding. I feel like it was really good for me because I had become quite obsessed with Owen and his schedule that not having such a set schedule (except for him eating) not only made me enjoy my time with Owen so much more but Owen seemed to take better naps and be happier over all! We did have some excitement that week as well with an ER visit for me (thank you gallbladder for your great timing) and the imminent weather report of a massive storm on Brian and Autumn's wedding day... for their outdoor wedding. It was so incredible how calm both Brian and Autumn remained. They were both so focused on just getting married and trusted that the Lord would take care of everything else! And that He did! It did rain on Saturday, but the huge storm split and did not hit Sarasota. The wedding was perfect in every way and Autumn was the most beautiful bride ever. She was so sweet to include my mom and me as she put on the wedding dress since that was such a special time...Owen however decided to scream in the small RV the whole time Autumn was getting dressed. Ruined that moment a little bit. During the ceremony Owen stayed in the RV with our best friends from California and they were so sweet to take care of Owen as well during the reception so Tim and I could focus on Brian and Autumn. The flight back was a success as well and much less stressful having Tim there with us.

The hardest part about month three was my return to work. Don't worry that I cried the first time we dropped him off at the nursery at church...I knew daycare was going to be even harder and it was! I was pretty much a wreck but I survived and Owen did great. He only went 2 days that week and the daycare even sent us great pictures of Owen with big smiles on his face.

Tim and I had to do our own measurements this month so they probably aren't completely accurate :) I found a website also that tells you what percentile your little cutie is in which is nice!

Weight: 15.5 lbs, between 75 and 90th
Length: 25 inches, 75th percentile
Head Circumference: between 75 and 90th

Loves: being bounced, his changing table, the nap nanny (best purchase Tim and I made), looking at books, face to face time, reaching for toys and objects, music and singing, snuggling, The Very Hungry Caterpillar soft book, hearing different sounds, activity mat

Hates: still tummy time

Owen is wearing 0-3 months and 3-6 month clothes. He barely fits in his size 1 diapers which we are trying to finish the package we already opened before moving up to size 2! He eats every 3-4 hours, still just breast milk. He teased Tim and me for 6 nights sleeping from 11-7 but that has sense stopped.

Owen is one happy boy! He wakes up with a big smile on his face and is cooing and gooing like crazy. He has started a little laugh and we just can't get enough of it! Sometimes if he laughs too hard he will get the hiccups. When you hold a toy in front of him he is able to grab it and immediately tries to put it to his mouth. He loves his activity mat and grabs and pulls up on the toys.

Our verse for Owen this past month: Proverbs 3:24 "when you lie down you will not be afraid. When you lie down your sleep will be sweet." Owen really slept so much better this month!

Tim and I didn't take very many pictures at all during the wedding...once we get the ones the photographer took of Owen, I will post them! He was so handsome in his little tie!

Can you find Owen? We had quite a few things!

2 Months

What another incredible month it has been with our sweet boy! We can't believe he is already 2 months old. He is getting so big and it is crazy how fast all of this is going.

Owen started off his second month of life with a very special visitor! His Aunt Haylie (Tim's sister) came into town for a few days to meet Owen. It was so fun having her here and getting to see her love on her nephew.

I have become way more comfortable leaving our house this past month which was great for both me and Owen I'm sure! We will run errands together (although I'm a little on edge the whole time), have lunch dates and other little outings. It is a little more complicated to say the least but I love having him with me! One very fun outing that we had was a weekend getaway. My family has a lake house in Horseshoe Bay that I've been going to since I was just a little older than Owen. Tim and I have always loved spending the weekend there and we were so excited to take Owen. I wish we had taken a picture of our car. I couldn't believe how many things we had to bring. Our car was PACKED!! It usually takes us about 3 1/2 hours to get there and it took a little over 5! We had to stop twice so he could nurse which was an experience in itself. At one point when he was screaming in the backseat and we couldn't find a place to pull over I told Tim I wanted to go back home! A little dramatic I know! Once we got there though it was a blast and such a special weekend with the Watson family of 3.

FUNNY STORY: A couple weeks ago I'm sure everyone heard about the tornados in the DFW area. Well my mom and I had chosen that particular day for a fun outing about 40 minutes away from Fort Worth to a little shopping area. We had just finished eating lunch and I was nursing Owen in the car when we started hearing the tornado sirens. We thought it might be a good idea to take cover. We found a Barnes and Noble and camped out in there. I finished feeding Owen in the back corner of Barnes and Noble - don't worry I only scared off one poor man. Anyways, about 10 minutes after we got in Barnes and Noble they made an announcement that the tornado was headed our direction and we had to take cover in this EXTREMELY small space in the back. We head that way and 20 of us were scrunched in this little area praying the tornado wouldn't get us. Well, at one point it got very quiet and Owen thought it would be a good idea to release some gas. Not just any gas... loud, wet, dirty diaper gas. Needless to say everyone in that small space was cracking up! Definitely lightened the mood.

Another fun thing this past month is a little Thursday morning tradition (which will have to change when I go back to work). We have a cute little french bakery about a 2 minute walk from where we live. We load up Owen in our BOB stroller (which is AMAZING by the way) and have a nice breakfast on the porch of the bakery and then go on a walk. It has been such a sweet time for Tim and me...and Owen who sleeps the whole time.

Owen's 2 month appointment went great. He handled the vaccinations great, it was just so sad hearing him cry so hard. He also ended up having a high temperature (101.7) that evening which of course scared me to death, but he is doing much better now.

Two Month Check Up:
Weight: 12 lbs, 11 ounces - 75th percentile
Length: 23 3/4 inches - 75th percentile
Head Circumference - 75th percentile

Loves: ceiling fans, being bounced (especially on the exercise ball), looking at books, his activity gym, eating, bath time, naps in his car seat, watching mom and dad, snuggling,

Hates: naps and wet diapers. We added this little pillow to tummy time which seems to help him not hate it quite as much!

Owen is wearing size 0-3 and is barely fitting in size 1 diapers. He continues to sleep pretty good at night sleeping anywhere from 3 hours to 7 hours (that only happened once). Tim and I are still trying to figure out this whole sleeping thing. I'm sure we are about to have to start letting him cry it out although I don't think I will last very long. Owen eats (still just breast milk) every 3-4 hours.

He has started smiling (a ton) and is cooing and talking. I have heard the /k/ and /g/ sound a lot when he is cooing (makes his speech pathologist mama proud). He is able to hold his head up (a little wobbly still) when we hold him up over our shoulder. He is able to track objects with his eyes. His hands are ALWAYS in his mouth. He is constantly trying to find his thumb but doesn't quite have that fine motor coordination to do it! I'm sure once he does we will have a very adamant thumb sucker! Owen is such a happy baby and Tim and I are so very blessed to have this gift from the Lord!

Month 3 should be pretty exciting! On Monday we are headed to Florida for my brother's wedding! I'm praying for a smooth plane ride :)

Prayer

This past week I attended the funeral of a good friend from high school's mom. It wasn't called a funeral, and it most definitely was not a funeral...it was called a celebration of life and that is what it was exactly! To say this woman was incredible would be an understatement. Tim and I left the funeral feeling sad, encouraged, excited and convicted all at the same time. Hearing stories about her and hearing her good friends, husband and 4 kids talk about her blew me away. Sara truly did finish the race and ran/sprinted through the finish line in spite of a long and very painful battle with leukemia.

One of the most incredible stories told was something that happened just a few short days before she went to be with the Lord. Her younger sister was helping take care of her and every morning around 4:00 AM her sister would come and get her out of bed and take her to the parlor to pray. She would spend several hours there in prayer. On one of the last days Sara went to the parlor a little earlier than usual. Her sister went to check on her several times, and each time Sara said she wasn't finished yet. It had almost been 7 hours when Sara finished and she said to her sister, "I got them all". Her sister asked for clarification and Sara said, "I prayed for everyone I know". Knowing that Sara had prayed for me, for my son, for Tim, for so many people I loved even when she was in so much pain! I thought I don't think I have spent 7 hours in prayer the past year!  I could go on and on about how incredible Sara was. Even in college she would send me specific scriptures she was praying over for me.

The past several days since the funeral I have truly changed the way I do things. When I am standing over Owen's crib for 20 minutes straight patting his stomach in the middle of the night trying to get him to sleep instead of being frustrated I have spent that time in prayer. Praising the Lord for such an incredible gift, praying for different friends of mine the Lord has put on my heart...praying for the DuBose family as they continue to mourn the loss of such an incredible wife and mother. I have felt more energized and so much closer to the Lord to have that communication with Him.

I want to be more of a prayer warrior. I want to be in constant communication with Lord and Sara's story and her life really inspired/convicted me to shape up! The Lord was and will be for many years to come glorified by her life and my prayer is that I can follow in her example and pursue the Lord with a heart completely devoted to Him.

One last thing Tim and I are going to do is pick out a verse each month to pray over for Owen. We better hurry and pick one out because he turns 2 months tomorrow! :)

So excited the way the Lord draws our hearts to Him and puts people in our lives to show us how to better glorify the Lord in every aspect of our lives!
